Two Rotary Clubs from Lebanon and another from the US with additional finance by the Rotary Foundation donated an electricity generator and industrial kitchen equipment to Asile Maronite Des Vieillards, a home for the elderly.

Beirut, Saturday September 15 - Local Rotary Clubs, the Beirut Cosmopolitan and the Beirut Metropolitan, as well as the Beirut Cosmopolitan Spouses' Inner Wheel Club and other officials were invited to a reception held by the administration of Asile Maronite Des Vieillards in celebration and gratitude for the donation of an electricity generator, and industrial kitchen equipment to the home for the elderly.

A Beirut Cosmopolitan Rotarian and Past President of the Rotary Club of Bluefield Virginia, USA; Dr. Assaad Mounzer identified the need of Asile Maronite Des Vieillards shortly before leaving Lebanon. The home for the elderly is an institution which provides rooms, food, clothes, nursing care and a loving environment for over one hundred elderly people.

Due to the daily electricity cuts the provision of basic care had been hindered. The two local clubs receiving co-sponsorship support from the Rotary Club of Bluefield, Virginia and Beirut Cosmopolitan Inner Wheel Club proposed this project to the Rotary Foundation which approved the donation worth $25,000. The additional generosity of the Rotary Foundation has given this institution the chance to operate more efficiently and help more of the elderly in need.
