On Tuesday April 8,2025, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan hosted Mr. Adel Afiouni, Former Minister for Investment and Technology. This meeting was in collaboration with RC de Beyrouth, RC Beirut Cedars, RC Cadmos, RC Metn Gate. The meeting was attended by AG Aida Daou, Presidents and esteemed members of the clubs. Also present was Dr. Kamal Kallab from RC Batroun. It was a very informative evening highlighted by fellowship.

Per tradition, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan organized an Iftar for 50 children on March 26. This event was led by our Rt. Silva Guiragossian, with the collaboration of our BCRAC and RC Pax Potentia. It was a heartwarming event with laughter and happiness resonating everywhere.
Women have had a profound impact on Rotary since officially joining in 1987. Their leadership, innovations, and commitment to Service have helped shape the organization into a more inclusive and dynamic environment.
RC Beirut Cosmopolitan has showcased its women talent since its inception 25 years ago. In leadership, we had representation as Presidents, Assistant Governors, District Chairs, Country Chairs.
We led Rotary DEI focus, and the Rotary Peace Fellowships at the district level, and initiated the first Inclusive club in Lebanon.
Our commitment to Peace Building led to the charter of the first youth-led Rotary Peace Building Club and helped establish the first Rotary Action Group for Peace in Lebanon.
Today, we celebrate all women as people of action driving positive change in communities with commitment and passion.
On December 14 & 15, 2024, The Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan along with the BCRAC brought smile and joy to less privileged kids. In the fabulous garden setting of Arthaus, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan celebrated the traditional Handover Ceremony where President Amal Talhouk passed on the helm to Incoming President Haytham Kurdi. The evening was attended by PDG George Azar, AG Toufic Ariss, Incoming DDG Mona Geha Kanaan and Incoming AG Aida Daou. The evening was graced with the presence of Presidents of RC Beirut Cedars, RC Cadmos, RC Aley. A friend and supporter of our club Mr. Fuad Bawarshi was honored with a Paul Harris in recognition of his continued support for RCBC. It was an evening of fun, camaraderie and great fellowship in the true spirit of Rotary.
On Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, RCBC welcomed PP Assad Salhab at the Phoenicia Hotel for an engaging classification talk and hosted BCRAC RYLA participants to share their valuable experiences gained at District RYLA 2024. PP Assad discussed "Alternate Investments and Value Creation," while the BCRAC RYLA participants shared their valuable leadership, team-building and community building insights from the District RYLA 2024, held last month from 19-21 of April at Ehden Country Club.

On March 21, per tradition, Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan in collaboration with Rotary Club Beirut Pax Potentia hosted an iftar party for 33 kids ages 7 to 14 with their assistants. These less privileged, non-institutional kids were treated to an evening of fun at Burger King in Jal el Dib.
Games, face painting, picture taking were provided by the young Pax Potentia Rotarians. Service Committee chair offered roses to all on the occasion of Mother’s day. Upon their departure, every child was given a gift bag with a cupcake to enjoy later.
This heartwarming event was attended by few Rotarians from Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan who equally enjoyed the evening. Nothing beats a smile on a child's face, and nothing is more noble than spreading cheer and good will.
On February 24, Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan members and guests were treated to a very entertaining evening of theater preceded by snacks and drinks in the most welcoming and fun ambiance.
Fundraising chair, Joelle Feghali, and her committee chose a Lebanese play, written and directed by a famous Lebanese author, Yehya Jaber featuring the brilliant talent of a Lebanese actress, Nathalie Abu Naoum, who brilliantly dominated the stage in a monologue of the utmost relevance and complexity of emotions.
Many thanks go to the fundraising committee for thinking out of the box to find ways to enable us to continue our work and service for our community. In these hard times, we Rotarians cannot do enough to serve the ever growing list of demands of people and communities disenfranchised by the terrible circumstances.

On October 16, 2023, RCBC inaugurated the AGBU Dispensary, with more than 8 fully equipped medical departments. (Gynecology, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Panoramic X-Ray machine, Color Doppler Echocardiography, Mammography, Ultrasound , X-Ray Machine with full shielded insulation for the room) In addition to the various equipment needed for the ENT, Ophthalmology and other departments. The project was headed by PP Sona Kourtian-Doniguian and sponsored by RC Trondhjem (Norway) and many other clubs from Germany, Netherlands, Norway, UK, Canada and USA. Congratulations, RCBC for another great achievement.
On October 3, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan welcomed the DG Bashar Haddad D- 2452 for his first annual visit to clubs in Lebanon. The DG was accompanied by DDG Shawkat Houalla, AG Toufic Ariss and Governor Aide Samar Saab. After a welcoming address by P Amal Talhouk , committee chairs presented their plan for the year, including service projects in the pipeline. DG Bashar delivered his closing remarks, commenting on the achievements of RCBC over the years and highlighting the club as the first inclusive club in the district. A new member, Mr. Toufic Abilameh ( sponsored by PP Mounir Jabre) was pinned that evening and was warmly welcomed by all.
The Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan organized a fellowship outing on September 30, 2023, centered around the theme "A Glance on the Talhouk History". The event took place at the Talhouk Castle/Makarem Cultural Center and Deir El Shir in Bmekkine. Members from RCBC, RC Metn Gate, and RC Beirut Center had the opportunity to engage in a cultural and historical tour followed by a delightful lunch at the Al Sakhra Cliff House Restaurant.

In collaboration with RC Beirut Cedars, and under the banner of September: Education and Literacy, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan represented by Rt.Joelle Feghali, collected and distributed 1750 books to the school Saint Cœur Ain Najem, to promote literacy and education in Lebanese schools.
On Wednesday September 13, 2023, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan had a Handover Ceremony at the Elpis H.O.M.E clinic in Fanar, Lebanon. In the presence of Rotarians, doctors and guests, an X-ray machine and a Panoramic machine were donated, a Global Grant that was executed with the support of Spanish and American clubs and districts and the Rotary Foundation.

Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan had the distinct honor of hosting a momentous event at the prestigious Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut, marking the transition of leadership from Past President Samir El Khoury to Incoming President Amal Talhouk. Visit by a Rotary International delegation to the Karantina Hospital that was fully reconstructed after the Beirut Port explosion. A Global Grant to rehabilitate the pediatric and neonatal wing was initiated by RCBC together with international partners.
D2452 9th District Conference in Yerevan-Armenia; RCBC was represented by P Sona Kourtian, who also was one of the Panelists in the “Rotary Peace Panel” during the conference.
The conference was also an opportunity to meet and establish friendship with Rotarians from around the world and the district.

Reflecting the spirit of the holy days, RCBC hosted 60 children from Dar Al Aytam Al Islamiyah and the Azzarieh Convent. The children enjoyed three hours of food, games and fun.

RC Beirut Cosmopolitan, together with RC Aley and RC Metn, hosted renowned pollster Mr. Rabih Haber who shared detailed and scientific roadmap to the much anticipated Lebanon elections. On January 30, 2022, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan proudly celebrated the FIRST-EVER NewGen Peace Builders: YOUnited Lebanon, under the leadership of Chair PP George Beyrouti & co-chair PP Mona Jarudi. Partner clubs, universities and students attended the in-person meeting. Viewers from countries around the world joined in on- line. Congratulations to the 100 students who completed their peace education, training and mentoring journey AND to the Certified NewGen Peace Builders who have just completed training to lead future workshops in Lebanon.

RCBC had its first fellowship trip visiting Anjar, passing through Kefraya winery & German Schneller school on the way. DG Ashot & Mrs. Emma were among the 75 participants of this beautiful trip, which was distinguished with its rich program & outstanding cultural, historical, ethnic & culinary presentations.

RCBC initiated the project of planting 22 trees, with individual trees dedicated to DG Ashot Karapetyan & to Deloitte who are a major donor to RCBC. Many Rotarians & Rotary Clubs participated in this project.
In a highly attended outstanding live session, RC Beirut Cosmopolitan, together with RC de Beyrouth, hosted Mr. Maroun Chammas, Vice Chairman & General Manager of Medco Holdings, who gave an in-depth analysis of the current Oil and Gas Crisis.
In Rotary, July is the month of handovers and changing of the guards where leadership of clubs is transferred from one president to another. These events are always very well planned to highlight the solemnity of the occasion, respecting protocol while maintaining the spirit of fellowship.
This month, our President was very busy representing RCBC to few handover ceremonies and few club visits to keep the Rotary ties with other clubs strong and impactful. P Sona attended HO of RC Cadmus, RC de Beyrouth and RC Tyre Europa. Heartiest congratulations to all new club presidents and best wishes for a very successful RY.
The month of July culminated in a visit to RC Chouf where its President Mona Richani received Disaster Aid Europe Chair Irena Brichta and Stuart Amesbury who were there on a combined business and fellowship day, in the presence of DGN George Azar. RCBC President exchanged banners with P Mona in the beautiful setting of Hamade Museum and held discussions with Chair Irena on service projects and ways of cooperation.
This donation was food and medical equipment, initiative of Lebanon Strong Canada that was coordinated by ALRC and distributed by RC Cedars to the different clubs in Lebanon.

As People of Action, Rotarians in Lebanon are always there to lend a helping hand when needed. In these unprecedented times in our country, the Association of Lebanese Rotary Clubs (ALRC) received 2 tons of Infant Formula from Chile through RC de Beyrouth. These donations were shared with all the clubs in Lebanon for the benefit of all communities.
The first donation was allocated in a ceremony at the USJ Campus under the auspices of the Ambassador of Chile to Lebanon and the Lebanese Ambassador to Chile.
The recipient of this kind of donation was AGBU Ahramjian Dispensary in Dora, Beirut.
Our club RC Beirut Cosmopolitan was honored with the first visit that the District Governor planned for Lebanon. DG Ashot Karapetyan ( D2452), per tradition, met on July 14, RCBC Board of Directors followed by meeting with the general club membership. During this meeting, the DG shared the general mission statement of Rotary, the theme of this year- Serve to Save Lives- and stressed the importance of Membership Engagement, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He also highlighted that now more than ever is the best time to grow Rotary because communities across the globe are in dire need of our help after the ravages of the pandemic.
RCBC President Sona Kourtian presented to the DG the strategic plan for RY 21-22, her focus on Education as her theme for the year, and the plans of all committees in our club. DG Ashot complemented our work and urged us to carry on with our remarkable record of service projects and Global Grants.
After months of zoom meetings and isolation, our club decided to brave the storm and conduct a physical handover to keep the valued tradition of the club. With a restricted number of attendees, masks and social distancing, the club had a very successful and fun handover between outgoing President Adib Mounla and Incoming President Habib Saba.
The club was honoured with the presence of DG Mazen Alumran from the Kingdom of Bahrain via video linkup in addition to the physical presence of Assistant Governor Rami Sarkis of RC Beirut Cedars, DGN George Azar of RC Aley and DDG Samir Constantin of RC Sahel Metn from the District level. Distinguished guests also present included Dr Riad Saade of RC de Beyrouth, a charter member of our club and its founding President, in addition to club charter members RT Samir El Khoury and Nabil Challah. Thanks to the power of Zoom, the official proceedings were climaxed with a warmly received address from DG Mazen Alumran who extended his best wishes to the RCBC President and Club for a successful year.
This appearance and the zoom broadcast of the handover generally was enabled, with appreciation, by the Interact Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan. Per tradition, VP Joe Boulos assisted by PP Lina Shair and Rt. Joelle Fighali, gave the outgoing President Adib all the parting honors in a very humorous sketch which added much needed positive vibes.
The evening was enjoyed by all who attended whether personally or virtually.
RCBC President Sona Kourtian conducted the first Club General Assembly for the RY 2021-2022. This was a hybrid meeting that allowed club members abroad to attend & participate. Due to the current health and economic circumstances, the club will keep on conducting weekly meetings virtually for the first few months of the year.
The President welcomed all the members and presented her strategic plan for the year highlighting EDUCATION IN LEBANON as the major theme for this year. She introduced all the committees whose chairpersons were given the floor to outline their plans. As always, RCBC is forging ahead full steam with an interesting program, strong service projects ideas, solid Global Grants ongoing and in the pipeline, with focus on re-igniting the fellowship activities that were dormant under the Covid cloud.

Habib Saba and P.E Sona Kourtian on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in the enchanting gardens of Arthaus, Gemayzeh. The event was attended by club members, friends, and Rotarian guests from Lebanese and international clubs both in person and over zoom platform in a beautiful ambience of fellowship .The evening was enriched with addresses from DG Ashot Karapetyan specially for the occasion, as well as RCBC founding President Riad Saade, RRFC Christina Covotsou and DGN George Azar. Finally, three new members were pinned and welcomed to the RCBC family.

On 1 March 2021 RC Beirut Cosmopolitan, represented by P Habib Saba, PE Sona Kourtian, PN Farida Najjar and P Carla Abou Diab (Rotaract Club Beirut Cosmopolitan), visited the respected NGO Arc En Ciel to handover medical equipment including medical beds, wheel and medical chairs and PPE equipment. This handover was part of a Rotary Lebanon initiative spearheaded by RC Beirut Metropolitan in collaboraton with Rotary France to deliver medical equipment to NGOs, Hospitals, Medical Centers, etc throughout Lebanon. The staff at Arc En Ciel were also kind enough to give us a tour of their workshops of which a highlight was the Pottery workshop. Thank you Arc En Ciel for your hospitality and your noble work in aid of the handicapped and vulnerable.
On December,Tuesday 22, 2020, RCBC was happy to give cheer and put a smile on the children of SOS Children’s Village at Bhersaf in the beautiful Metn region of Lebanon.
SOS stands for Societas Socialis, founded in 1949 by Herman Gmeiner, an Austrian, to help orphaned children. SOS Children’s Village, stands for: A loving home for every child. It is a nonprofit National Association and a member of the International Federation of SOS Children’s Villages.
P. Habib Saba, Amal Talhouk, and Farida Najjar with the help of NGO Chreek delivered and distributed food parcels from Burger King+ popsicles + personal gifts for the 42 children whose ages range between 3-19 years (and that is until they graduate and find the future awaiting them). Over and above, each child received a personal letter from another child of a similar age with the season’s compliments, which added to the warmth of this Christmas event. RCBC surely didn’t forget to offer food parcels and personal gifts to the 11 caretakers who play the role of (mothers) to those children.
RCBC members always look forward for their annual Christmas project to draw a smile on orphans’ innocent faces.
As part of the immediate relief effort, our club also collaborated with a nationwide Rotary effort to supply Food Boxes to impacted needy families in the vicinity of the epicenter of the Port Beirut explosion.
In line with RC Beirut Cosmopolitan focus on areas for disaster relief, the club collaborated with a Scottish NGO, Edinburgh Direct Aid, to repair damaged windows and doors in homes impacted by the explosion. This support was achieved through the allocation of funds to supply required material for repairs

As a response to COVID-19, our club initiated a global grant last May to provide ventilators and PPE to Karantina Hospital. The handover took place on September 16, which was attended by members of RCBC including President Habib Saba, President Elect Sona Kourtian , Past President Joe Boulos, Past President Mimi Hamam, and Rotarian Michel Mansour along with the management and staff of the hospital.

RCBC, BCRAC and RCBC Interact Club, in partnership with the NGO Chreek, distributed food boxes to needy families in the Karantina area in Beirut, zone 26. This area of Beirut was badly affected by the recent explosion of August 4 and lots of families were left homeless. Boxes were distributed to 113 families and tents were set up for this purpose

The topic of sustainability in project was highlighted especially that all Rotary global grants should be sustainable to be eligible for approval.

RCBC's last fellowship event for the Rotary year started with a visit to the Evangelical Academy in Aabey were funrniture and IT equipment will be installed once the GEAT GG funds are received. During the visit P Adib and PP George were interviewed by TV reporters. This was followed by a visit to the Kanaan Palace owned by RC Beirut Center President Effat Kanaan Abou Assly.
The Program Committee represented by Chair Farida Najjar and Rtn Karen Saab have organized a nice outing to the MACAM museum in Alita. Members and friends were greeted by Cezar Nammour and his spouse Gaby Shaub who offered a tour of the museum followed by a workshop and nice outdoor lunch.
RCBC new members Rotarians Nasr el Baba, Rony Eid, Mohamad Harakeh, in addition to Rtn Colin Gibson presented their classification and professional backgrounds. In addition Michel Frem RCBC candidate for a Rotary Scholarship talked about his ambition to pursue a Masters degree in water and sanitation in the Netherlands. The members and attendees were impressed by the high level of professionalism of the speakers and their academic and professional background.

RCBC members, families and friends have visited the Latourba winery in Saghbine - Bekaa. During the event Christine Chehwane informed the Rotarians how the Latourba wine is produced using traditional techniques. After that a wine tasting session was held, followed by a nice barbecue lunch and a visit to the farm and an ancient Roman sight.
The Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan has distributed 70 boxes of PPE to the Hopital du Sacre Coeur . This is part of a Disaster Response Grant initiated by District 2452 to fight COVID19. The hospital is currently receiving and treating COVID19 Patients.
RCBC conducted an online meeting with RC Bietigheim-Vaihingen to discuss the projects that both Lebanese and German Rotary Clubs are conducting in the communities. The Clubs also discussed their joint project Schneller School global grant that is in the final stages of preparation.

A fully equipped ambulance was handed over to the Lebanese Red Cross represented by Mrs. Rosy Boulos. The Handover event took place at the workshop of BISCO SARL that took charge of the conversion works. The ambulance was financed via a Global Grant initiated by the Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan and the Rotary Club of Elche Illice, with the contribution of the Rotary Clubs of LA Cedars, Neede, Picton, Elche-Illice, Lebanon (USA), Beirut-Cedars, Beyrouth, Districts 2452, 6560, 2203 and the Rotary Foundation.
Joint online meeting with the Rotary Club of Beirut Cadmos. Guest speaker Mrs. Karen Boustany is an award winning Media Personality, owner and GM of Eyestrategy Business Communication SARL, Co-Founder of LALS and CEO of the Luxury Network Lebanon.
During the session, the members were updated on 11 projects that are being conducted by the club. In addition to a discussion on the other Club matters and activities.

He covered the Pre Covid19 security risks, the trend after COVID19 (remote work, Zoom , Webex meetings), phishing and spear phishing and the market best practices. The presentation was followed by a session of Q&A.

Joint meeting with RC Sahel el Metn. The session was given by Dr. Pierre Bou Khalil Head of Pulmonary Critical Care at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. The session was attended by 71 participants from all over the district including our DG Shawkat Tadros, PDGs and Incoming DG.
Guest Speaker Ziad Sankari presented Cardio Diagnostics innovative technology covering 30 days heart monitoring. In addition Ziad is working on a study related to fighting COVID19.

LaTouba founders and owners Christine and Elias Chehwan presented to RCBC members and guests the exquisite Lebanese wine LaTourba and its positive impact on the Saghbine community. The session also included interventions from Greek Winemaker Sofoklis Peutropolous and Cypriot Winemaker Rotarian Marcos Zambartas owner of the Zambartas Wine. The Chehwan also presented the challenges and opportunities the wine industry sector faces in Lebanon.

RC Beirut Cosmopolitan distributed a stock of Personal Protection Equipment to the Dar el Rahma Elderly Hospital- Ain Saade. The stock mainly included, medical gloves and surgical masks. The hospital's stock of PPE was depleted and the patients and medical team were highly exposed to the COVID19.

Both Lebanese and Italian Communities are currently badly hit from the COVID19 pandemic. During the meeting both twin clubs shared the initiatives taken to fight against COVID19 such as service projects (supply of medical equipment, distribution of food boxes...). During the meeting members from both Clubs agreed that a joint action should be undertaken to assist each other in fighting this pandemic. The online meeting was also attended by many members from other Rotary Clubs.

Despite the COVID19 pandemic, RCBC operations were still ongoing. On March 24th, our Club had its first Online Meeting with RCBC founder PP Riad Saade. Ms Sandy Peters is a 30-year old Lebanese meditator and activist who believes in the power of yoga and selfless service. Sandy is specialized in mind management and trauma-sensitive yoga.
The urge of making yoga accessible to those who really need it, led her to establish "Koun" in the beginning of 2019 - an NGO with one clear and strong mission: to spread yoga in underprivileged communities and refugee camps in Lebanon with the aim of promoting well-being, mental health and peace.

RC Beirut Cosmopolitan, RC San Mateo, RC Unley and Heartbeat have joined hands to finance 10 heart surgeries for children from underprivileged communities. The value of the Global Grant is USD 55,000. The children were chosen based on the severity of their medical condition and regardless of their ethnic background or gender.
RC Beirut Cosmopolitan and RC de Beyrouth organized a joint Club meeting in honor of His Excellency Mr. Christopher Rampling British Ambassador in Lebanon. The session was a discussion session between Rotarians and guests with His Excellency about the British - Lebanese Relationship.

Guest speaker lawyer Dr. Pierre Khoury discussed the laws and regulations that cover the Intellectual Property in Lebanon and where our country stands compared to others in this field. He also went through some examples to elaborate further on this subject. The session was covered by a well animated Q&A session. The event also included a Rotary Information session by PP Habib Bassoul who discussed the GDPR in Rotary International.

Marc is an inspiration to Rotarians and Youth for his important contribution to the Community despite his medical condition. Also during the session, PDG Michel Jazzar presented the PHF to PP George Beyrouti and P Adib Mounla. The birthday of Rtn Farida Najjar was also celebrated.
Joint session with the Rotary Club of Metn with guest Speaker Dr. Habib Torbey CEO of Global Com Holding. Dr. Torbey's session was about Internet in Lebanon: Myths and Realities- the Untold Story. Also during the session, PP Joe Boulos and Rtn Joelle Feghali talked about the Orphans Christmas event. RCBC welcomed back Rtn Karin Saab who joined back our Club.
Taking into consideration the difficult times the country is going through and the tough economic situation, RCBC distributed food boxes as a joint initiative with RC Beirut Cedars and the Lebanese Food Bank.
The joint session between the three Clubs included the presentation by Mrs. Myra Saadeh, the pinning of new RCBC member Mr. Nasr el Baba and two PHFs PP Edouard Rassie and P Adib Mounla.
Mrs. Myra Saadeh is a Human Rights activist specialized in detention and law enforcement as well as a Senior trainer and expert in International Humanitarian Law. She has worked in several international organizations such as the UNDP , the International Committee of the Red Cross and Diakonia.
During the session, Mrs. Saadeh listed the chain of events that paved the way to the October 17th revolution, then she talked about Blocking the roads, freedom of expression v/s freedom of movement, Law enforcement operations v/s Excessive use of force. Mrs. Saadeh discussed human rights and law enforcement issues and whether some rights can be derogable and the principles governing the exercise of powers by law enforcement officers.

RCBC's PP George Beyouti visited the Rotary Club of St Petersburg -Florida and thanked the Club for their generous contribution to the HOME ELPIS Project (contribution of USD 5,000). PP Beyourti and RC St Petersburg's President exchanged their Clubs Banners.
Mrs. Hana Abou Khadra Salem shared with RCBC Club members and guests her experience with Inclusive education. She shared the story of her daughter Zeina who faced multiple challenges in her life and came out a stronger person. Thanks to her, the perception of Society towards people with down syndrome has changed and thanks to the love of the family and dedication, Zeina is now an active member of the society with professional skills and multiple hobbies and talents.

RCBC members assisted RC Beirut Cedars with the packing of food boxes that will be distributed to the needy. This falls as a countrywide initiative to assist the poor in these difficult circumstances. RCBC will deliver around 55 food boxes to poor communities.
Thanks to the generous contributions of RCBC members and guests, around 100 children visited Harissa for a warm and joyful Christmas event. The Children came for 3 different orphanages in Lebanon, they had an exciting Telepherique ride all the way to Harissa, then a full animation show was delivered to them. Once done, Santa Claus presented each child with a Christmas gift and they all had a nice warm lunch with Desert. RCBC Rotarians & guests and BCRAC members were present to make sure the Children will have an unforgettable day.
Mr. Jad Jreijiri from LMI Lebanon explained how Personal Leadership can be developed using specific techniques. The session covered this notion for individuals but also for Rotary Clubs who can benefit from these techniques while preparing their strategic plan. Also during the business meeting, Rotarian Diana Cotran presented the positive results of the Members Satisfaction Survey conducted in November and December 2019.
DG Shawkat Tadros honored RCBC with his presence along DDG Bana Kalash and AG Samir Constantine. The Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan (District 2452), in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lebanon, Indiana (District 6560), and the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg, Florida (District 6950), as well as contributions from private donors, secured a global grant from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International to help provide a complete dental clinic and state of the art ophthalmology equipment to the Elpis HOME Clinic in Fanar, Lebanon.
Mrs. Josiane Torbey VP of Association Sel de la Terre presented the Sebhel Public School project and how a state of the art public school was built based on personal initiatives to generate an outstanding public school. Also during the session, PP George Beyrouti presented the benefits and responsibilities of a Rotarian. This session was part of the Rotary information and was beneficial to new members and guests.
RCBC held a open discussion and Q&A session between the Committee Chairs and the Club's members. The purpose of this session was to update all members on the operations of the Club and to guarantee transparency in its operations. The members were also requested to fill a Members Satisfaction survey. RCBC guest Mr. Mohamad Harake introduced himself to the Club.
H.E. Dr. Karam Karam ex Minister of Health, Culture and Tourism was the guest speaker at RC Beirut Cosmopolitan. Dr. Karam shared with the members and guests his experience in the Medical and Political fields. Also during the session RCBC member Rtn Diana Cotran did a presentation entitled "Be a Vibrant Club" covering what makes a Rotary Club healthy and vibrant.
RC Beirut Cosmopolitan and RC de Beyrouth both welcomed Rotarians Raffaele and Luigi Pilla from RC Benevento - Italy at the Sursock museum. The Lebanese clubs discussed with their Italian counterparties possible joint projects and each of the clubs exchanged banners.
Mr. Habib Hatem presented the accomplishment of Dar el Amal Center that provides support and skills development for women who have been victimized or imprisoned. During the event, RCBC received visiting Rotarians from Switzerland Mr. Martin and Corine Muller and Cheryl Sartian from the USA. The Clubs exchanged their banners and discussed possibilities for joined activities.

On the occasion of the national Apple Day, RCBC members, guests and Rotaractors organized a fellowship event to Aitanit - Bekaa. The event was an apple picking event to encourage Eco Tourism in Lebanon. The event was followed by a fellowship lunch. Later at night RCBC members attended a gathering with visiting French Rotarians in Byblos.

Our Clubs exchanged their banners. P Jean Pierre Asmar from RC Kesrouan honoured us with his presence.
Ms. Iman Assaf Assaf gave a little synopsis on her NGO AHLA FAWDA and Where There’s Walls whose focus was: - Using art to create positive change - Embellishing areas and enriching lives through art and murals. - Creating green spaces. - Inspiring young talent while engaging communities. - Offering emerging artists opportunities to showcase their work and develop their skills with modest capital outlay.
A session by Mrs. Maya Abi Chahine: Thanks to the University for Seniors at AUB program, older adults are offered the opportunity to remain intellectually and socially engaged, learn new things and contribute actively in their communities. The program offers a variety of activities: study groups, lectures, cultural travel programs, and intergenerational activities with AUB students
Mrs. Maguy Khoubieh Kostanian, co-founder and president of the label and NGO Les Plus Beaux Villages du Liban was the guest speaker of RCBC. Mrs. Kostanian briefed the audience on the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de la Terre" concept and how this label has reached the Lebanese Villages. She listed the criteria on which the villages are graded and eventually be assigned the label. Mrs. Kostanian went over the NGOs website and its future objectives and strategic goals. The session was followed by a Q&A session. RCBC presented a recognition certificate to Mrs. Khoubieh Kostanian.
First handover of the RY 2019-2020 was at the Mission de Vie Providence Hospital in Adma, a global grant of USD 52,500 with RCBC as Host Sponsor, RC LA Cedars was the main International Contributor and RC Beirut Cedars and RC Metn as local contributors.

Rotarian Annick van de Geest-Vogelaar from RC Haarlemmermeer- the Netherlands on a visit to Lebanon, met RCBC members and the two clubs exchanged banners, we discussed the possibility of working on future joint initiatives between the two Clubs.

RCBC represented by P Adib visited the Rotary Club of Larnaca - Cyprus. During the visit P Adib presented the list of projects that RCBC is preparing and discussed with P Hagop Atikian the possibility of joint initiatives between the two clubs. The two Presidents exchanged their club banners as a start of a new joint partnership.

On Tuesday January 16, Rotary Club Beirut Cosmopolitan and Rotary Club de Beyrouth hosted a dinner featuring our guest speaker HE Raya Haffar El Hassan, ex Minister of Finance in Lebanon and currently Chairman- General Manager of the Tripoli Special Economic Zone.

PP Peter Rink from the RC Wasserburg - Bavaria , PDG Dr. Hans Peter Sonnenborn of the RC Pfaffenhofen, and Dr. Maria Fick wife of PDG H G Fick, visited RCBC and talked about the Schneller project that is being implemented in Lebanon. The business meeting was followed by a fellowship dinner.
Dr. Dima Jamali, professor at the Olayan School of Business at the American University of Beirut and Associate Dean for research and faculty development talked about the GCNL (Global Compact Network Lebanon), its mission, goals and objectives.
RCBC Past President Me. Fawzi Metni -lawyer and Founding and Managing partner of the firm AbouKheir & Metni talked about NGOs in Lebanon and Worldwide, Rotary as NGO, and NGOs and Governments. The speech was followed by P Joe Boulos granting the Paul Harris Fellowship pin to Me. Fawzi Metni.
Mr. Walid Maalouf, General Manager of Lebanese Food Bank (LFB) talked about the Mission of LFB to have a hunger free Lebanon by 2020-2025. Studies show that 1/3 of our food purchases is consumed and the remaining is thrown away. LFB collects food from restaurants, caterers, supermarkets and suppliers the excess of food products and distributes it to the poor.
Captain Rola Hoteit, first and only woman pilot in the history of MEA, was the guest speaker of RCBC. The title of her speech was "Women with Cedar Wings". Captain Hoteit, talked about her beginings as a Pilot, the education she went through, the challenges she faced, the personal satisfaction she accomplished and finally the position and challenges of women in the society. Captain Hoteit surely inspired all the attendees by her accomplishments.
Ms Reina Milad Sarkis holder of a DESS in Clinical and Pathological Psychology, a leading Psychoanalyst with groundbreaking initiatives talked about the Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR)
H.E. Aftab Khoker, ambassador of Pakistan in Lebanon honored RCBC with his presence during the Club's monthly dinner meeting. The subject of his speech was:"Pakistan a Newly Emerging Economy, Historical Perspective and Current Challenges:.
Mr. Rahed Sarkis, from the Lebanon Echo Movement, discussed the Garbage crisis in Lebanon, its causes, impact of taken measures and appropriate solutions, waste management in large cities v/s in villages.
H.E. former Minister Fady Abboud, founder of the Lebanese Observatory for Transparency, honored RCBC with his presence during the Club's monthly Dinner meeting. The topic of Mr. Abboud's speech was around " Access to Information act and Tools to fight Corruption" followed by a Q&A session.
Dr Rita Feghali responsible of the Blood Bank at the Lebanese Red Cross talked about the statistics of the Blood Bank centers in Lebanon, the vision, mission and history of the Center, fast facts, the donation process and the current improvement that is being done for the Blood transfusion services.
Rt Past President Ronald Farra from the RC of Beirut Cedars informed RCBC members and guests about the Rotary Global rewards program; how the reward system works, how to redeem the offers and how to upload an offer on the website.
RCBC members, and Rotarians from Lebanese and International Rotary clubs were present during the delivery of the advanced Laparoscopic and Ultrasound Machines to the Haifa Hospital. The hospital serves thousands of patients that cannot afford to pay the medical treatment fees living in underprivileged areas.

On Saturday December 10th. RCBC invited hundreds of orphans coming from different regions, religions and even countries. The event that took place at the Teleferic Harissa included the cable car ride, many activities, magician show, games, lunch and finally the distribution of gifts.
Mrs Souraya Frem, President and CEO of Cenacle de la Lumiere -a Lebanese NGO with 10 years of service- talked about the achievements of Cenacle de la Lumiere, the addiction recovery programs, their Partners, the available recovery programs, Prevention activities, and campaigns and conferences.
RCBC and RC de Beyrouth jointly welcomed Pr. Fadlo Khuri president of the American University of Beirut at their Dinner meeting. Pr. Khuri's speech was entitled "AUB as a Driver of Innovation and Economic Equity"

Silva talked about her father as philosopher, painter and generous contributor to the needy; his inspiration as well as his achievements and international success.

Rotarian Christine Arzoumanian -Certified Wellness coach from Well Coaches- gave a session entitled:"Your Wellness & Well-Being". The session was followed by a session by Rotarian Adib Mounla on Risk Management, the challenges that Lebanese Banks are facing with the increasing regulations and IFRS9.

RCBC celebrated the Adha Eid during a dinner event with Rotarians from sister Clubs in Germany. Speakers PP Peter Rink from RC Wasserburg, Prof Dr. Hans-Peter Sonnenborn from RC Pfaffenhofen and Rotarian Krause from RC Friedberg talked about the Schneller School in Lebanon.
Mr. Andersson International Humanitarian Assistance coordinator (AMURT) informed RCBC how the projects are financed, the activities undertaken on the Lebanese territory, Child friendly space, Psychological assistance to refugees, Art therapy a big step in healing process and Self care for children. At the end of the program children will get a certificate. The NGO worked with 15000 refugees from 3000 families since 2012.

During the meeting, we had the pleasure to host members from the Rotaract Club of Metn who informed the members and guests about a project that will be held at the Civil Defense center of Dhour el Shweir. Also during the meeting PP John Edde talked about a potential project that can be worked on related to eyes surgeries.
Baby Fatmeh was the first baby to benefit from the RCBC Gift of Live Global Grant. The heart surgery took place at the AUBMC and it was successful thanks to the joint efforts of RCBC, GOL Lebanon and all the Rotary Clubs and districts that have contributed to save children lives. We wish all the best to Baby Fatmeh.
PP Tony Asfour informed RCBC members and guests what is the Rotary Foundation and how Global Grants applications operate. PP Asfour has chaired the Rotary Foundation committee at RCBC for many years and is considered as a reference when it comes to Global Grants and the Rotary Foundation.
With the start of the new Rotary Year, RCBC handed over the Global Grant check of USD 35,000 to AUBMC Children Heart Center to finance heart surgeries for 7 children with congenital heart diseases.

RCBC successful service project of Orphans' Iftar held annually was a very special event this year. RCBC We hosted 96 orphans / less privileged children from South Lebanon.

Mr. Peter Yeates CEO of HSBC Lebanon speech was about the Trade Winds Shaping the Future of International Business. First Mr. Yeates informed us how HSBC evolved over the years. Some of the trade winds are : reducing cost of telecommunication and transport, Market opening through trade policy Evolution of company operating models and World propensity to trade Projections.
RCBC's annual brainstorming session was held at the Bustan Hotel. During the session, RCBC members and spouses discussed potential projects that the Club can work on next RY. The event ended by celebrating the Birthday of PP Tony Asfour.

Dr Mona Fawaz urban planning professor at AUB talked about the Beirut madinati campaign, a 10 points program for upcoming municipality elections.
Dr. Fawaz discussed the Opportunity for change, the situation of Beirut with congested traffic , unsafe side walks, very small green space. The change can happen through municipality elections.
Dr. Elias Aractingi, General Manager at BLOM Bank SAL talked updated RCBC members and guests about the situation of the Banking sector in Lebanon and the Middle East, and talked about the current outlook of the industry.
Guest speaker Dr. Marie Line Karam talked about the impact of Globalization, its impacts on the local and international level and future issues. She first defined International law and courts. Then Dr. karam talked about international integration, the modern state system, the concept of sovereignty based on Westphalia, the International court of justice, the International criminal court. She ended her speech by making us wonder if we witnessing the disappearing of the state.

RCBC President Mimi Hamam appeared on the Future TV talk show "Inter-views" that is a political talk show, hosted by Mrs. Paula Yacoubian, that captures and analyzes the latest political happenings and host the most influential and renowned Lebanese politicians and leaders.
Professor Salma Talhouk informed RCBC about the Beeati Baldati project to study the Lebanese Natural heritage. She went through the goal of project and the methodology used in the conservation.
Dr. Hiba Osman, founder of "Balsam" talked about the Palliative care medical approach with an aim to improve the quality of life of patients despite illness, and also the family. There are multiple issues causing suffering, social suffering, spiritual, practical problems, end of life management, loss and Grief.
Guest speaker Lea Baroudi who is engaged in conflict resolution tackled the clash in Tripoli Alaouit section of Jabal Mohsen and Sunni section of Beb el Tebbaneh. Through the March association, Lea auditioned people from both camps to work on a play. Despite a difficult start, all the participants became friends and worked on a play together. Lea shared parts of the play and interviews with the people from the two camps. They left the live of violence and are now writing their own plays.

Colonel Marie Abdel Massih of the Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC) talked about the structure of the LMAC, its mission, vision,historical overview of the contamination,Clearance till the end of 2015, means used in humanitarian de mining operations, the current situation of mines in Lebanon, information regarding victims since 1975, victims after 2000, the objective of mine risk education, the types of contamination, the kind of mines and how the landmines or cluster munitions explode.
Rotarian Nada Maalouf, the newest addition to the RCBC family talked about her career and classification as partner at Deloitte Middle East. In her own special way, Rt Nada caught everyone's attention and shared with us her interesting experience at Deloitte. She talked about Deloitte in the world, some facts about Deloitte in the Middle east and in Lebanon,Deloitte by business,Deloitte by industry and sector and Deloitte Retention and advancement of woman in the middle east.

Ms Pascale Hatem expert is knowledge management and founder of "Keel Knowledge Management" explained to RCBC what is Knowledge Management and why it is so important. Ms Hatem defined knowledge management, knowledge, the types of knowledge (explicit, tacit), knowledge activities (socialization, externalization, internatization, combination) and listed the knowledge management benefits and how to use Knowledge management in practice.
Guest Speaker R John Miles - Chariman of the Guilford Eye Project, member of the Leatherhead Rotary Club UK- talked about "Extending Humanitarian Rotary program to Lebanon with RCBC".John Miles is a member of Leatherhead RC and became actively involved with The Guildford Rotary Eye Project almost six years ago. He is a Trustee and was awarded a PHF for his work in serving the avoidably blind.

PP George Beyrouti gave a session about the RI elections procedure and rules and regulations. He also talked about the role of the Board of Directors in the Club. The elections were done according to the RI and Lebanese regulations.
Part of the RCBC tradition, the annual orphans Christmas dinner party took place at Laura's Restaurant Harrisa. The Children enjoyed the Magic show as well as many other activities followed by a delicious dinner and gift distribution by Santa. But that was the secondary aspect of the project, as RCBC's main purpose of the project was to remind the Children that they had one big loving and caring family RCBC.
Zeina Saab founder and Executive Director of the Nawaya Network gave a presentation about "Empowering Low-Income Youth to Drive Lebanon's Start-up Ecosystem".
Dr André Sacy - Dental Surgeon- talked about the old town of Saida. First Dr. Sacy informed the Club about the Religious significance of Saida a city that was mentioned on many occasions in the Bible. Dr Sacy shared some old maps that go back to the 19th century as well as pictures of the old walls of the city and the old town, the two old Schools, newly discovered Mameluke and crusaders coins, the Sea castle, Khan Hammoud, Jameh el Barani, Ali Hamoud palace and the Haramlek.

Mr. Raja Haddad talked about the Seven habits of highly effective people and how Rotary can influence the society. There are some levels that people go through going from dependence (on others) to independence and finally interdependence, between them there are 3 habits, vision , listening, synergy. There are leadership levels: personal , interpersonal, managerial, organizational and societal. To become proactive, one should begin with the end in mind, put first things first and always think win-win.

HannesSiebert of Common Space, UNDP- PAF, advisor to the UN common space initiative and facilitator to numerous national dialogues in zones of conflict in the Mena Region and Myanmar, shared his experience in mediation and negotiations. With the increasing number of civil wars there are no more 2 parties involved in a conflict but many parties. Mr. Siebert talked about his experience in the national dialogues of Yemen, South Africa and Lebanon as well as Burma (which is the most complex case he worked on).

As part of Rotary continuous collaboration with the Children Cancer Center Lebanon, RCBC handed over the Spectra Optia Cell separation machine to the CCCL at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.
P Mimi Hamam started the dinner meeting with the pinning of RCBC's two new members Nada Maalouf & Nadim Hissen, then PAG and Head of the Banking Control Commission Lebanon Samir Hammoud gave a presentation about the Role of Banks in the Lebanese Economy. RCBC honored PAG Samir Hammoud with a trophy in appreciation to his impressive work to the Lebanese society and economy.
Handover of the Mobile Computer Laboratory to Achrafieh Public High School on Tuesday 6 October 2015 with the presence of DG Naserddine. This project is part of the RI Computer Literacy Global Grant program.
RCBC members who visited the Rotary Club of Wasserburg - Bavaria shared their experience through a series of pictures taken during their trip. These pictures alone showed the fellowship and hospitality of our German friends.
RCBC was honored to receive a visit by District Governor Mustapha Nasreddine and his lovely spouse, as well as DDG Kamal Katra and ADG Rami Majzoub to its Dinner Meeting. DG Nasreddine met members of BCRAC, RCBC Club President, President Elect and Club secretary, as well as the RCBC Committee Chairs who had the chance to talk about their Committee's programs. RCBC and BCRAC benefited from the advise and guidance of DG Nasreddine.
RCBC welcomed Mr. Bob Raylman Executive Director of Gift of Life International (GOLI) during a business Dinner. The topic of Mr. Raylman was the historic relationship between Gift of Life and Rotary. The event was very well covered by the media (TV and newspapers).
Rotarian Nora Haddad of RCBC showed us how we can solve the garbage problem that Lebanon is facing by sorting the garbage at home. She also mentioned many creative reuse ideas for some items as well as NGOs that are picking up the sorted garbage from buildings.
Rt Rana Salhab Membership committee chair, analyzed the results of the survey. It showed a 78.9% response rate (30 members out of a total of 38) of whom 53.8% are Rotarians between 10-20 years. The survey showed that there is a good level of involvement in activities, there is a need for more news about members on Marhaba, less guest speakers, a need for semi annual surveys and more fellowship projects.
PP Georges Beyrouti went though the pictures of numerous community and fellowship projects that showed how much RCBC has contributed throughout the last 20 years and that RCBC is a Family that will keep growing.
RCBC's annual tradition: an iftar for orphans from different backgrounds at Laura's restaurant Harissa. The event included a magic show by a magician as well as gifts distribution and lots of fun.
RCBC arranged for baby Maya from North Lebanon to be operated by Dr. Issam El Rassy, AUB Medical Center, using funds donated by a board member of the Lebanese School for the Deaf & the Blind. She is now back home, playing with relatives and friends. This initiative was part of the Rotarian Gift of Life (GOL) program to assist children with heart defects.
Mr. Nour S. Kanafani, a graduate of the American University of Beirut Graphic Design Program and CEO of Communication Design SAL, gave a powerful presentation on the negative influence of social capital and the impact that a proper communication partner can make.
A first of its kind RC handover in Lebanon between two women: P Lina Shair and IP Mimi Hamam who pinned TV Anchor/Host Yacoubian as Honorary RCBC member. Ms. Yacoubian praised Rotary for its humanitarian work and asked for the support of RCBC in promoting the establishment of a World Bank Hub in Beirut. Dancing With the Stars” professionals did a memorable show that inspired attendees to do their best in turn.
H.E Mrs Ivonne Abdel Baki Past Ambassador of Ecuador to Washington and artist shared her experience on the peace negotiations between Ecuador and Peru (border dispute between the two countries).The process took 3 years and art was a major player in the negotiations as an art exhibition was held at Harvard that involved the two parties. Mrs Abdel Baki shared some ideas on how to make peace in the Middle East and talked about the Heart for peace foundation that uses art for peace. In the 90's and exhibition was held that involved Israeli artists and Palestinian artists as well as politicians from the two countries

Don Bergman, president of International College talked about the "Invisible kids". First he talked about his professional bacground and how he noticed that there are a lot of Invisible Kids in the school, its Children who feel lonely and dont have friends.
39 RCBC members and guests joined Vamos Todos on their Mazraat el Teffah hiking trip, It was a successful event during which the 160 Vamos Todos hikers knew more about Rotary International and RCBC members showed proved their determination never to give up even on difficult hiking levels.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, RCBC member R Sona Kurtian gave an informative speech about the atrocities committed in 1915. She started with a historical background information about the geopolitical situation at the time of the ottoman empire and the situation of the Armenian population under the Ottoman rule. R Kurtian talked about the barbaric methods used by the ottomans to exterminate the Armenians and concluded by talking about the increasing worldwide recognition of the Genocide. Finally, R Kurtian finished by saying that she is the grand-daughter of a "Saint" (Armenian Martyr) which dropped more than a tear among he attendance.

Dr Louis Hobeika described the impact of the Lebanese Civil war and the current regional situation on the Lebanese economy. The Syrian crisis added more problems to the Lebanese economy, in addition to the political impasse and the public debt, with a GDP that is the lowest in the region (1.4%). The country is also facing a problem with the trade deficit. The economic prospect depends on political solutions mainly the end of war with syria to increase exports as well as the problems in the region.

Ms Carmen Chahine Debbaneh President and CEO of CLESS CEMEDE, talked about the education for Special children. CLESS was established in 1999 , its a non governmental and non profit organization that helps children with specific learning disabilities such as ADHD, hyper dislexia, reading difficulties, dysphasia. Ms Debbaneh explained how the diagnosis process is done, followed by the treatment methodologies. There are 6 centers in Lebanon, as well as learning support classes. Cless signed a protocol with the Ministry of Education to provide its support for 200 public schools (58 are already operational).

Ms. Wazzan (owner and Chief Dietician of Nutrition & Diet Center) started her presentation by talking about the impact of nutrition development on our society, then she explained what is obesity, its causes, trends and the statistics related to obesity. After that, Ms Wazzan explained how our lifestyle changes affected our diet, and talked about the Mediterranean diet program, the progression of nutrition during the last 25 years, the growing demand for dieticians, what is bariatric surgery, eating disorders, diabetic people, the impact of nutrition on the society, career opportunities of the dieticians and future expectations.

Mr. Marc Dfouni CEO and co-founder and managing partner of Eastline Marketing (online marketing strategist) presented the Top 5 digital marketing trends and predictions for 2015. Mr. Dfouni informed us how Eastline Marketing started , its objectives, and how they educated Lebanese companies about online marketing. The market boomed with Facebook and the company sold Facebook adds for Lebanese companies as a start. Now the company has 400 clients The 5 Trends are :Virtual reality ( via the oculus rift vr) , artificial intelligence websites , Real time marketing, Happiness marketing, location based marketing.

Fellowship event at Al Bustan Music Festival during which the RCBC members and guests enjoyed the concert of The State Youth Orchestra of Armenia playing Paganini’s Concerto No. 5 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 with Soloist on Violin Sergei Krylov and Conductor Sergei Smbatyan. The event was followed at a fellowship dinner at Al Bustan.
This project falls under the Water and Sanitation area of Focus. The 5 other areas of Focus are Peace and Conflict prevention/resolution; Disease Prevention and Trearment; Maternal and Child Health; Basic Education and Literacy; and Economic and Community Development. These 6 areas of Focus can be financed by the Global Grants.

Dr Fadi Yarak DG of the Lebanese Ministry of Education talked about the impact of Children of displaced Syrians on Public Schools in Lebanon.
According to Dr Yarak, each Syrian Student costs around $1660 of which $1500 paid by the Lebanese Government , and part funded by international grants.
The current status of total syrian students enrolled is 100,000 for the school year 2014-2015 v/s 88,000 in 2013-2014, knowing that there are 300,000 more waiting The Ministry of Education partcipates in all UN meetings to mobilize the international community to get more funds Dr Yarak also talked about the challenges the Ministry is facing such as the impact of the high quantity of students , the diffficulty of monitoring, health challenges, ngo coordination, tensions between communities, lack of funds, and language barriers.

Panelists Mrs. Hayat Arslan and Ms. Nadine Moussa, moderated by RCBC RT Rana Salhab Mrs. Hayat Arslan commented on the role of Lebanese women in
politics that she considers marginalized, partly because of social traditions and partly because of an unfavorable legal system and electoral laws that do not give women a balanced role.
Ms. Nadine Moussa criticized the new law relating to physical abuse of women as “truncated” since it omits the points that were considered primordial by women’s Non Governmental Organizations. The press gave the Panel coverage in Almustakbal, Alnahar, L’Orient le Jour, Daily Star.
One of the most important projects for this year is the Child and Mother Association Global Project.
Mrs Aida Ghandour President and Dr Marwa of the association gave Samhoun talked about the services of the association, the challenges they are facing as well as the importance of their work to the Lebanese Society. Dr Samhoun also talked about the importance of the machine that will be installed in the association.
RCBC also received Rotaractors from BCRAC who talked about their experience at the RYLA that took place in November at Ehden Country Club. RCBC sponsored 7 Rotaractors to attend the RYLA.
We had the pleasure to receive visiting Rotarian Araceli Suarez from the Rotary Club of Granada - Spain. Rt Suarez talked about her Club and its activities, and challenges they are facing in Granada. This was followed by an exchange of Flags between our President Lina Shair and Rt Suarez.
After that, PP Toni Asfour, Georges Beyrouti and Rt Rabab Safieddine were the speakers of a Panel Discussion.

Our dear President Lina Shair visited the Children of Bourj El Barajneh Nursery; "Anamel Saghira" and provided them Xmas gifts. The children presented a dance and she joined them in "Yalla dabkeh ya shabab".
True fellowship spirit at Society Restaurant - Saifi. During this event the RCBC members and guests enjoyed an amazing dinner with a live performance. We are already looking forward for the next Christmas dinner.
On Friday December 12th RCBC hosted 163 orphans and their supervisors from the following homes : Birds Nest Armenian Orphanage (Byblos), Orphanage of St Charbel (Harissa), Zahrat el Ihsan Orthodox Orphanage (Achrafieh), Catholic Armenian Sisters Orphanage (Bzimar) and Foyer Deir Umallah (Ajaltoun) .
The event took place at the Teleferiquefood court - Harissa where the orphans enjoyed an amazing show by a magician followed by a warm lunch and finally Christmas gifts distribution.
The last couple of months were special to Rt Rana Salhab member of the RCBC, as she received the Paul Hariss Pin on November 25th 2014 and a week later she gave the RCBC a very interesting presentation about the Rotary Survey to Measure RCBC membership satisfaction and views. During this presentation, Rt Rana also gave us a brief about the Monkey Survey.
The RCBC was honored to receive Dr Abdallah Abou Habib as guest speaker. Dr Habib talked about the origins of ISIS in the Middle East as well as its sources of funds, and its threats to the region.

A very interesting presentation about the Foreign Account tax Compliance Act (FATCA) by Mr Gabriel Fernaine (Director of Byblos Bank - Sassine Branch). Mr Fernaine explained what is FATCA, its objectives and requirements.

RCBC organized a remarkable fundraising dinner evening at the Hard Rock Café. The “60’s Night” theme drew a large crowd and the enthusiasm of the guests contributed to making the event highly successful.

The Rotary Club of Wasserburg, Germany and the Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan have donated a CNC machine to the Schneller Institute in Khirbet Kanafar, West Bekaa ofLebanon.
The Rotary Club of San Mateo, the Rotary Club of South San Francisco and the Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan have donated a gas cooker and a gas fryer to the Schneller School.
In accordance with its tradition of the last several years, Rotary Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan joined hands with the HRC in Ain El Mreisseh to host around 100 orphans with their supervisors for a Christmas lunch.
The Rotary International organization provided a Nissan X-Trail car for the Mother of God Home for Orphans (Oum Allah Home) in Ajeltoun, Kesrouan, Lebanon. The handing-over ceremony took place on August 24, 2013 at the Mother of God Home in the presence of RCBC President Mounir Jabre, and of RCK President Jean-Paul Finan. The photo shows a number of Rotarians surrounding Sister Marie Farah, who manages the Oum Allah Home.

Two Rotary Clubs from Lebanon and another from the US with additional finance by the Rotary Foundation donated an electricity generator and industrial kitchen equipment to Asile Maronite Des Vieillards, a home for the elderly.
06/07 Ambassadorial Scholar Rima Abou Mrad is still in the US promoting herself and Lebanon. She was recently invited to speak at Rotary Club of Sterling Heights where she made a presentation and showed a movie about Lebanon.
RI President Wilf Wilkinson is encouraging all Rotarians to help strengthen Rotary's membership by bringing at least one new member into Rotary. Members of his leadership team who met this challenge have been recognized with a new member sponsor pin.
